Lazapool has been at the forefront of recreational and competitive gymnastics for over a decade, having produced many outstanding regional, national and international champions.

These include former world silver medallist and Commonwealth Games Champion Bob Sister and the current uk Champion and Gold medallist at the Manchester 2006 commonwealth games, Beth Tweddle. Beth is Britains most succesful gymnasts having also won Gold at the 2008 World Championships.

Whole-body water immersion leads to a significant shift of blood from the periphery to the intrathoracic circulation, followed by an increase in central venous pressure and heart volume. In patients with severely reduced left ventricular function, this hydrostatically induced volume shift might overstrain the cardiovascular adaptive mechanisms and lead to cardiac decompensation.

Patients with severely reduced left ventricular function but stable clinical conditions and a minimal peak of at least 15 ml/kg/min during a symptom-limited exercise stress test tolerate water immersion and swimming in thermoneutral water well. Classes are held throughout the city's sports centres with the opportunity for talented youngsters to progress to the Park Road Gymnastics Centre, one of the best centres of excellence in the country where they can receive specialist training from a range of expert men's and women's gymnastic coaches
